Brenton & Knysna

Approximately 15km to the west of Knysna, Brenton on Sea nestles atop a hill overlooking the ocean. The area exudes an aura of old-world charm combined with the laidback ease of a coastal resort town. The beach at Brenton on Sea stretches all the way to Buffalo Bay - and beyond – and both beaches have once again been awarded the coveted Blue Flag status.

The beach offers most of the activities one associates with the sea: from fishing, sunbathing and almost everything in between. The Garden Route boasts with superb land-based whale watching and Brenton on Sea is no exception. Many an hour can be spent watching the whales and dolphins playing just of the coast. Few people know that a section of Brenton on Sea has been proclaimed as a special nature reserve. The Brenton Blue Butterfly Reserve is home to a host of small wildlife, birds and, most importantly, the Brenton Blue Butterfly, an endangered indigenous species only found in Brenton.

Almost midway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, Brenton on Sea (and by extension Knysna) makes for a comfortable break during a journey between the two cities. The airport at George is a scenic drive less than an hour away, making Brenton on Sea an ideal destination for holiday makers and honeymooners.
